My research focuses on geophysical fluid dynamics and climate science, with a particular interest in small-scale processes such as oceanic internal waves and atmospheric clouds. Although these phenomena occur on small scales, they can exert significant influence on the larger climate system. My research group is developing new transition metal catalysts for small molecule activation and oxidative functionalization reactions by employing systems that can stabilize transition metals in unusual oxidation states. We have also shown that these unique compounds are key intermediates in cross-coupling reactions and biomimetic oxidative transformations. Gongjie Li
My research investigates the dynamical interactions of astrophysical systems. I apply analytical and computational methods to study the formation, evolution, and habitability of planetary systems. Additionally, I also explore high-energy regimes, investigating the origin and interactions of compact objects as sources of gravitational waves, as well as the tidal disruption and dynamical interactions of stars near supermassive black holes.

I am Professor of Applied Statistics at the University of Oxford and Visiting Professor of Statistical Epidemiology at Imperial College London School of Public Health. I study the transmission and control of infectious diseases, with an emphasis on real-time outbreak response.
