Miller Professional Development Events support Miller Fellows, who are well positioned to become future leaders in their fields, as they prepare for the transition to post-fellowship careers. By offering workshops, practitioner talks, panel discussions, mentorship and networking opportunities, the program helps fellows build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and professional connections needed to navigate the job search and successfully launch the next stage of their careers after the fellowship.
One example of the Institute’s professional development initiatives are Mentorship Lunches designed to foster meaningful connections between Miller Fellows and Miller faculty in a small-group setting. Through informal conversations over lunch, faculty and guest speakers share their career journeys, insights on building successful academic and research careers, and strategies for navigating professional challenges. The lunches provide fellows with the opportunity to ask questions, receive personalized guidance, expand their professional networks, and build mentoring relationships that support their long-term career development.
