Research Interests
Michael Ortiz's research interests include solid mechanics, computational mechanics, and nonlinear and failure processes in solids. He has a particular interest in the connections between mathematical structures and their relation to evolutionary phenomena at large deformations. These interest span length scales from the atomistic to the macroscopic.
